Staunton Chess Set (Red/Black) Review
This Staunton chess set is hand painted and comes with individual bubble wrap protection for every piece and securely packaged in a cardboard box. Each set includes an extra queen of each color to enable promotion of a pawn to a queen while the other queen is in play. The bottoms are felted. Kings are 3.5" in height with a base of 1-5/8". This set is suitable for a 18 inch board with 1.75 inch squares. Chess board is not included and is available separately. All pieces were cast in Hydrostone (a trademark of the United States Gypsum Corporation), a reconstituted stone material used by sculptors. After the pieces are hand-painted, they are given several coats of acrylic varnish, and then coated with a museum-grade paste wax to enhance their appearance and feel. Read more...
