The Wingfield features a smaller than normal but very distinguished looking knight and a proportionately large rook. Many players like this adaptation because the the more powerful rook. The Wingfield is the perfect size for tournament play . The king, queen, and bishop colums have noticeably less curvature than more contemporary designs, reminiscent of old Staunton patterns.
